Vishal,

I was able to build the samples from the 4.11.0rc1 SDK without any problems on 64-bit Windows 7 using Visual Studio 2010 Professional.

Did you set the OPTICKS_CODE_DIR and OPTICKSDEPENDENCIES variables?

Please provide additional details (SDK version, OS, VS version) so we can help troubleshoot.

Thanks,

Dustan

Just to cover the obvious, do you have the OPTICKSDEPENDENCIES environment variable set up properly? As well as OPTICKS_CODE_DIR et. al.?

Re: link.exe line of the build result

vishal tiwari
Here is what i am doing to build it:
1. I downloaded the win32 dependencies.
2. set the OPTICKSDEPENDENCIES variable as: OPTICKS_HOME\Dependencies.
3. Ran the SamplePlugin in the application directory.
4. Where i set the Additional Include Directory:
  • OPTICKS_HOME\application\PluginUtilities\pthreads-wrapper.
  • OPTICK_HOME\application\PluginUtilities\Interfaces
  • OPTICKS_HOME\application\Interface.
  • OPTICKS_HOME\application\PluginLib.
5. Additional Library Directories:
  • OPTICKS_HOME\Dependencies\32\lib
  • OPTICKS_HOME\BUILD\Binaries-Win32-debug\Lib

6.Additonal Dependencies:
  • PlugInLib.lib
  • PluginUtilities.lib

This builds the tutorial, but doesn't build the rest three..

OPTICKS_CODE_DIR should be one level above your dependencies directory.

Now that I think about it, you may not need that one for the sample/tutorial plug-ins.

I just set it out of force of habit. J

I was also able to build using the 4.9.1 SDK.

Is it possible that your dependencies download was corrupt?

xerces-c_3D.lib should be 3,121,170 bytes (I didn’t bother to generate a checksum, but if yours is that size I will assume it is ok since Ivy does do checksumming).

Also, did you confirm that Visual Studio is getting the correct environment variables?

If you are using a command prompt, you CANNOT use explorer to launch the sln and get the proper variables reliably.

I usually set the environment variables in a command prompt and then launch the sln directly from there, i.e.:

set OPTICKS_CODE_DIR=C:\SDK\opticks-sdk-4.9.1-windows

set OPTICKSDEPENDENCIES=C:\SDK\opticks-sdk-4.9.1-windows\Dependencies

cd %OPTICKSDEPENDENCIES%

retrieve-dependencies.bat

..\application\SamplePlugIns.sln

Thanks,

Dustan

Re: link.exe line of the build result

vishal tiwari
xerces-c_3D.lib is of the same size that u specified .i did what u just told, but the same problem occurred. I think maybe i am using "win32" as target during the build is causing problem. I have only have downloaded the win32 dependencies not win64. I am had  problems while downloading it, when i run the "retrieve-dependencies.bat" command it starts downloading some package(it does this for a few seconds), then it halts. and nothing happens for another few seconds. Now if i re-run the same command(retrieve-dependencies.bat) it downloads it completely and starts to download a new package, but again after some time it halts again. So unless i do this halt and re-run process, it won't download win64 dependency completely. I have done this for win32 as target. I know its very strange. Is it possible that the error that i am getting is because of not having the 64 dependency?

thanks,
vishal

Have you tried to build in 32-bit release mode?

I do not think that the absence of 64-bit binaries would cause a problem, but I have not tested that theory.

Re: link.exe line of the build result

I have finally finally build the sdk. It turned out that, there was some problem with my Windows. It was not able to download from the server. So i build it on another system, and copied the /.ivy2/cache directory my systems cache directory. Now i was able to build everything without any problems.

Regards and thanks,
Vishal

Also, did you confirm that Visual Studio is getting the correct environment variables?

If you are using a command prompt, you CANNOT use explorer to launch the sln and get the proper variables reliably.

I usually set the environment variables in a command prompt and then launch the sln directly from there, i.e.:

set OPTICKS_CODE_DIR=C:\SDK\opticks-sdk-4.9.1-windows

set OPTICKSDEPENDENCIES=C:\SDK\opticks-sdk-4.9.1-windows\Dependencies

cd %OPTICKSDEPENDENCIES%

retrieve-dependencies.bat

..\application\SamplePlugIns.sln

Thanks,

Dustan

SDK version: 4.9.1

OS: Windows 7 ultimate (64 bit)

VS version: 2010 Express.

i have set the OPTICKSDEPENDENCIES variable as E:\opticks_SDK\Dependencies. But i haven't set any OPTICKS_CODE_DIR variable. What should i set it to? i am following this link to build it: http://opticks.org/docs/sdk/4.6.0/plugintutorial_building.html

thanks

Thanks,

Dustan

The error is showing some error with  xercesc library. but i have checked that, it is in the Dependencies/32 folder.

The mail before contains the line of link.exe, which shows that the xercesc_3d.lib in included. Due to this error PluginSmapler.dll, PluginSamplerHdf.dll, PluginSamplerQt.dll are unable to create.

How can i resolve this error?

Thanks,

Vishal Tiwari
