Updated Tutorial and Online Help

John Prikkel

Any suggestions about what content to include for updated Opticks tutorials?

Here are topics that are being considered.

          Opening and closing a file

Manipulating an image (pan, zoom, flip, rotate, reset)

          Brightness and contrast

Export a data as a NITF, Geotiff, or ENVI dataset.

Exporting as a shapefile and KML.

          Overlaying GIS features

Annotating and exporting as a JPG

          Exporting as an MPEG

          Image Chipping Window

You need to include: creating and viewing and animation (otherwise exporting to MPEG is not very useful). Working with AOIs is also a common task.

I would like to see examples in the online help for developing plug-ins:

  • Developing user interfaces (modal/non-modal dialogs, dock windows, main windows, etc.), algorithms, and hooking them into wizards.
  • Batch and Interactive modes
  • Attaching to data model elements and properly detaching
  • Attachment Pointers
  • Working with configuration settings
  • A link to the Plug-In Development page for Opticks
  • Suggestions for temporary files or session files.  (ex. Using My Documents\Opticks)
