Opticks sourceforge project upgrade

tclarke
Administrator
I have begun the upgrade of the Opticks and Opticks-Extras projects in
sourceforge. The biggest changes for most developers are the new
repository URLs and authentication. The new URLs are as follows:

Opticks
Read-write (for core devs):
svn+ssh://[hidden email]/p/opticks/code
Read-only (for everyone else): svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/opticks/code

Opticks Extras
Read-write (for core devs):
svn+ssh://[hidden email]/p/opticks-extras/code
Read-only (for everyone else): svn checkout
svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/opticks-extras/code

If you have trouble accessing these, there is a read-only https url for
each repository but access will be much slower than the svn urls.
https://svn.code.sf.net/p/opticks/code/
https://svn.code.sf.net/p/opticks-extras/code/

You should be able to do a subversion relocate on existing working
copies.

Read-write access requires a public/private key. On windows, Putty and
Putty Agent can be used to create and load the key (so you don't have to
type a password every time you access the repo). You need to go to your
sourceforge account to add the public key you are using. (Under the
Services tab in your account information page)

Trevor,

Which username/password combo do I need to use? I was assuming it was the same as I use when the certificate expires for the old SF repository.

Re: Opticks sourceforge project upgrade

Trevor Clarke
Yes, but you will need to enter it quite a few times so the easier way to setup repo access is with a public/private key. Grab putty (specifically putty-gen and putty-agent).
Use putty-gen to create a key pair (save the private key someone on your computer).
Run putty-agent and right-click (in the system tray)->Add a Key. Select the private key file.
Go to the sourceforge Account page and select ssh keys (https://sourceforge.net/account/ssh).
Copy/paste the public key from the putty-gen window into the sourceforge account.
Now you shouldn't need to enter a password each time (you'll need to run putty-agent and add a key if you logout of your computer)

Trevor,

Finally got it working for TortoiseSVN. Will the public/private key work with Peridexion? I got an error that the tunnel couldn't be created - couldn't find the file specified. I set the repo path to "svn+ssh://[hidden email]/p/opticks-extras/code/Spectral/branches/future".

Sadly, no. Peridexion no longer works with this model.

No..we are no longer using Peridexion as it won’t work with the new setup (this is why we put off conversion as long as possible). Until there’s a better solution in place, just use email for coordination.
