Issue Loading Multiple Files at the same time

John Tobe

Our importer is having problems loading multiple files at the same time. If 2 or more files are dropped into opticks (or selected from the import dialog), then only the last file loads fine. The other files have completely blank bands.  How does the auto importer handle things differently for loading multiple files versus one at a time?  I specifically suspect the pager is the part having issues, although I’m not sure what the problem is at this point.

thanks,

John Tobe

The importer agent treats multiple files the same as multiple data elements in the same file other than multiple calls to getImportDescriptors instead of one call. If the importer is the Auto Importer it locates the appropriate importer plug-in each time getImportDescriptors or execute are called. The only state it maintains is a cache of already created importer plug-ins so only one instance of an importer plug-in exists during a single import block.

A quick corollary: this means that any state variables in Importer subclasses need to be able to handle this scenario, e.g.: warning/error messages should be stored based on filename and not just as standard strings because the same instance of the importer could be used for importing images from multiple files.
