Band Math Took 80 Seconds To Execute 'b1+1'

Hi all,

 

When I perform the following actions, band math executes very slowly:
1) Start Application.

2) Load dataset.

3) Select General Algorithms->Band Math.

4) In the resulting Band Math Dialog, double-click ‘Band 1’, click ‘+’ button, click ‘1’ button, and then click ‘Process’ button.

5) Application displays Band Math Progress Dialog.  Dialog updates continuously (no lag at the beginning), and 80 seconds later the operation completes.

 

The dataset in question has ~1000 bands/frames and is BSQ format.

 

Any idea why it takes so long to execute?

Forgot to mention, I don’t think my project has any immediate need to use the Opticks supplied Band Math.

Just thought the Opticks developers might like to know.

This is a known issue…band math only works on BIP data (it will request a BIP accessor). Your BSQ data will be converted to BIP on the fly and this is what is causing the slow down. We have wanted to fix this (and some other bandmath issues) for a while and have not had the time. I don’t believe there is currently a JIRA issue…if you add one, it will show that there are other groups who are affected by this problem which will raise the priority of the fix.
